While not a "jazz" guitar book in the strictest sense, this book presents tons of ways to improve your overall musicianship from probably the most recorded guitarist in history. (If you've ever watched 1970s and 80s TV, you've heard him.)
Tedesco could apparently read anything and was a first call session guy for soundtracks. It's worth it for the sight reading section alone. Plus there are excerpts from actual scores he's played on that are pretty interesting for players who've wondered what some of that stuff looks like. (His part for a John Williams film is scary.)

Tommy Tedesco: For Guitar Players Only
Yeah, that's a good one. Thanks for adding this suggestion to the list Steve.
I once read an article in a guitar magazine with Tommy's son. He said that for him, he just saw his dad leave for work every morning with the guitar case in hand. Normal life, you know?!
I guess it would be hard to understand to what extent your own father is a "legend" ... when you're eating cereals next to him every morning. (-:
