Study Harmony

Harmony is music. Study it everyday. It doesn't matter "what" part of harmony and chord progressions your learn, simply do a bit in each practice session.

Some suggestions :

-Learn new chords voicings

-Create voice leading on familiar tunes

-Play close/spread triads in 12 keys all over the fretboard

-Transcribe comping passages from recordings (piano/guitar)

-Memorize chord progression (from tunes) and play them in 12 keys

-Compose original chord progressions

-Make "one line" go through many changes

-Work on hearing the "implied" resolutions in chord

-Learn about quartal harmony and clusters

-etc.
