Playing through chord changes

Challenge yourself

When practicing for solos, pick tunes that are harmonically challenging. There is nothing wrong with 12 Bar Blues, but it doesn't open your scope to different harmonic challenges.

Pick tunes that move, ie: "All the things You Are" , "How High The Moon", "Just Friends", "Cherokee".

Play them at different tempos and if you really want to challenge yourself, different keys as well. This will improve your playing and hearing tremendously.
